Swift Creek PLT Update

Check our website periodically for updates on what our Professional Learning Teams are doing. Our PLT design has grade level PLTs meeting the first two Wednesdays of each month to review data from assessments and to collaborate on best practices for teaching and learning. The third Wednesday is when the PLTs discuss individual students who are struggling, put interventions in place and monitor those interventions. The fourth Wednesday is for collaboration among the grade levels and the support personnel assigned to their Cougar Time. The purpose of this collaboration is to answer “How are we going to help those students who have not met the benchmarks?” and “How are we going to enrich those students who have met the benchmarks?” Beginning October 5, Cougar Time occurs for all students on specified days. K-2 students have Cougar Time on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:00-3:40 and 3-5 students have it on Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00-3:40.

Parents Invited to Community Summit
Swift Creek is joining Yates Mill Elementary, Dillard Drive Elementary, Penny Road Elementary, Dillard Drive Middle and Athens Drive High School in a Community Summit that will focus on how the community can help improve attendance at each of these schools. Last year at Swift Creek, our attendance rate was 95.27% but over 200 of our students had less than 95% attendance. This trend is similar at the other schools. At the Summit , you will hear about the strategies schools have put in place to increase attendance and you will have the opportunity to provide input into other ways that could improve attendance. The Community Summit will be at 1:00 on February 15 in the Media Center at Dillard Drive Middle School. All parents, business leaders and community members are invited to attend. Note:The summit will still be held on Feb. 15 even though that day is now a regular school day (make up day for Feb. 1.)
